PearlAqua Micro™ Shows the Robust Features of UV LEDs

CTO of AquiSense Wins Two Awards 

We are very proud of our CTO, Jennifer Pagan, Ph.D. for winning two awards in the last few weeks. She was named the winner of The Best IUVA News Article during last week's IUVA World Congress in Sydney, Australia. You can read the IIUVA News Article that won the award here. Jennifer was also named one of The Mecklenburg Times 50 Most Influential Women of 2019 in her Hometown of Charlotte NC.

AquiSense Technologies Announces New UV Research Tools

AquiSense Technologies is proud to announce the PearlLab™ product line, the latest in ultraviolet (UV) research products offering advanced tools for the future of scientific studies. Adding on to the existing PearlLab Beam™ product, which is used to determine UV Dose response data, AquiSense has launched three new products to assist researchers. The PearlLab Micro™ is a flow-through or batch operation tool with interchangeable UV wavelengths on a convenient USB pluggable format. The PearlLab ThinFilm™ is designed for disinfection for low UV Transmittance (UVT) or high UV Dose applications. The PearlLab Plasma™ enables research below 230 nanometers without the use of mercury vapor lamps.

The new PearlLab product line offers researchers access to the latest in UV-C LED and plasma lamp technology. “UV LED technology continues to develop at a rapid pace and these tools allow researchers to develop applications in fields previously thought impenetrable for UV technology,” said AquiSense CTO, Jennifer Pagan.

AquiSense Presents and Exhibits at IUVA World Congress 2019

The AquiSense team had a great time attending and participating at the IUVA World Congress 2019 in Sydney, Australia. We were able to present on five topics that created some interesting conversations at the conference. While exhibiting, we introduced new research tools that help further the UV disinfection field. We would like to thank all the researchers who presented at the conference; it was humbling to see all the research our products have been a part of in the last few years. We are excited to be a part of the advancement of UV technology.

AquiSense Technologies Announces R&D Agreement with US EPA and Washington University to Further Advance UV LED Disinfection System Development

AquiSense Technologies is proud to announce a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) between the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), Washington University, and AquiSense Technologies. Through the CRADA partnership, AquiSense is working with US EPA researchers at the National Homeland Security Research Center (NHSRC) and the Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis, to design, fabricate, and test an integrated water treatment system incorporating advanced ultraviolet light emitting diode (UV LED) disinfection and filtration technologies. The integrated device will target higher flow rates and more challenging water qualities than currently available commercial systems. The NHSRC is particularly interested in rugged and quickly deployable emergency water treatment systems capable of providing safe water following natural and man-made incidents.

 

“We are excited to participate in this development agreement as it showcases patented AquiSense technology and allows the expansion of UV LED disinfection technology to new application areas including; small community water and wastewater systems and a variety of industrial solutions,” said AquiSense CEO, Oliver Lawal. “Since the formation of AquiSense, we have focused on establishing ourselves as a market leader by engineering innovative UV-C LED based systems. The agreement we have announced today further reinforces our ability to maintain this leadership position as our UV-C LED technologies will be optimized for more challenging water treatment scenarios”.

 

In addition to today’s announcement, AquiSense is currently participating in many other innovative research collaborations. The supply of cutting-edge UV-C LED research equipment like the PearlLab Beam™ collimated beam device, is enabling over 40 laboratories globally to advance the application science of many critical human and environmental projects. Notable close co-operation of field studies with separate groups at University of Colorado at Boulder and Dalhousie University, add to the Biocontamination Integrated Control for Wet Systems for Space Exploration (BIOWYSE) project, that aims to address biocontamination issues on the International Space Station (ISS).

AquiSense Technologies Announces Price Reduction on PearlAqua Product Lines

AquiSense Technologies continues to lead the UV-C LED disinfection industry by announcing a price reduction to their award-winning PearlAqua™ and PearlAqua OEM™ models. Since its introduction in 2012, the PearlAqua has been AquiSense’s flagship product, utilizing advanced UV-C Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to provide pathogen reduction by up to 99.99%. The PearlAqua was a first-to-market product in this sector and has been the benchmark for price/performance evaluations of all other products since. In addition, its patent-pending replaceable UVinaire® lamp module, is a game changer for users, providing true plug-and-play operation.

 

Today’s reduction in price makes AquiSense’s award-winning systems more cost-effective, bringing pricing in line with conventional mercury-based UV systems. “It’s a win-win situation for everyone,” says AquiSense Technologies CEO Oliver Lawal. “Early adopters of our systems were attracted by the unique benefits of UV-C LEDs and the slick design, meaning they were deployed in places where traditional mercury-based systems could not be utilized. A price reduction further enhances an already compelling value proposition and will lead to further market penetration of UV-C LED technologies,” concluded Lawal.

 

The price reduction was made possible by a variety of factors including increasing purchasing power with suppliers and the establishment of new automation in its manufacturing facilities. Since launching the PearlAqua, both the UV-C LED device market and the PearlAqua design have progressed. “In making today’s announcement, it’s clear that we have benefited from our first-mover status in developing product refinements and greater production volumes,” said Wes Morin, VP Operations.

AquiSense Technologies Presents at ICES 2018

AquiSense recently presented at the 48th International Conference on Environmental Systems in Albuquerque. This international conference is focused on topics related to humans living in space and working in extreme environments. The presentation focused on how UV-C LED disinfection technologies can address biocontamination in an enclosed self-sustaining environment. A copy of the presentation can be found here:
